Lake City’s “Hometown Holidays” festival is excited about their plans to fuse art in a big way into their conventional 3-day Christmas event this year. Scheduled for December 1-3, the annual Hometown Holidays event is a regional favorite, with over 40 holiday-themed activities and events spread throughout their shopping district. This year, Hometown Holidays weekend is shared with the finale weekend of Lake City’s massive 3-month art exhibition, “Southern Voices/Global Visions,” adding a unique layer to how the town celebrates the start of the Christmas season.
Setting Lake City apart from neighboring towns, guests will immediately notice unique Christmas décor with an artistic twist, to include holiday inspired installation pieces, artist-made parade floats, and more. Pink and blue ribbons will replace the traditional reds and golds as public art projects and town décor transform Lake City’s downtown. Locals and visitors will still be intrigued by the countless events (both kid and adult friendly) inside the various shops, the unusual nighttime parade, tree lighting ceremony, vendor markets, and performances. To wrap up the weekend, the Lake City Junior Sorosis Club will be presenting their fan-favorite “Candlelight Tour of Homes” after a 3-year hiatus.
